Jacob O'Laker-Crime-Lost Girl

So as a preface to my very very imformal blog, because ultimately thats how I define "Blog", I have to explain my topic selection. Crime is a rather broad subject if you ask me (and seeing how youre reading this I assume youre asking me) and is everywhere in modern society. But I'm not going to bore you with the usual gory, disappointed in society kinda crime.. Oh no! Because I feel that crime does nothing but depresses, so! In light of said previous warnings lets get to it.

Recently Carlina White, whom was kidnapped from the hospital something like 3 weeks post-birth, discovered her true identity recently after growing up with the lingering feeling of not belonging. Calina called the police not to say "I've been kidnapped" but to say something more along the lines of "I dont know who I am." True this, for a blog about crime, a relativly happy story but that doesnt negate the fact that police are looking into reopening a case that is nearly 23 years old. This is no easy task however because of the lack of witnesses in said case, that is to say, that the crime would be the initial kidnapping of the girl from the Harlem Hospital 23 years ago and not, neccesarily, the raising of a child not of your own. Subsequently details are being left out about the girls not-so-parents and reporters havnt had the chance to get in touch with White's real parents to get their reaction to the reunion. This should be a growing concern in america because of the near 800,000 kidnappings a year and to top it off, generally speaking, one of every eight children are given to the wrong parents anyway. Ultimately Harlem police are looking in to reopening the case but with little enthusiam, regardless everyone is sleeping a little better tonight knowing that little girl finally made it home.
