This article is about the sexual exploitation of migrant women in Ireland, and the efforts of the Dignity project. According to this article, there are an estimated 1000 women being sexually exploited for money in Ireland. There was conference held this week to help inform people about the numbers of trafficking in different countries. Although Stockholm and Barcelona have the same population of 1.5 million, there is significant difference in he amount of women working in prostitution. While Sweden only has an estimated amount of 200, Barcelona has about 20,000.  Along with establishing buying sex as crime in 1999, several other steps have been taken to prevent sexual exploitation of women in Ireland. Although the other initiatives were of great assistance, Dignitiy's project co-ordinator Grainne Healy says that criminalizing sex buying was the most beneficial. MEP Proinsias De Rossa, Denise Charlton of the Immigrant Council of Ireland encourages agencies nationally and internationally to get involved. She expresses how the work of committed individuals is the main reason these numbers of trafficking and prostitution are decreasing.

I personally believe this country is taking the appropriate measures to work towards fixing the problem. I think at this point they should try to work with other countries. I think their techniques and efforts could have a positive effect on other groups working towards the same goals. Awareness is so important when it comes to this crime for many reasons. Its extremely difficult to identify, but more so inform others on how to identify it. If other countries would establish sex buying as a crime, the global problem would decrease a lot more quickly.
