Education is an important asset to society. The Middle East and North Africa access to education has improved drastically over the years. The numbers have gone up especially for girls and women’s education. Gender gaps in some countries have already disappeared because education is becoming more available to everyone. The benefit of women having an education is that family health improves. Children of educated women especially daughters will more than likely be enrolled in school and will have higher educational attainment. They will also get more politically active and try to exercise their rights more. The downfalls of women receiving education in these parts of the world are that women are learning too little to prepare them for jobs of the 21st century jobs. Their education might not reach the requirements of what a particular job is looking for. How can the government better help with this? They could possibly try to find better educators and have more funding for better improvements. They should really get rid of the law that says in some countries women have to get permission from their husbands to do certain things. Laws as such only grant women a small share of inherited family wealth. Which is why families tend to make more of an investment in their sons education more than their daughters.

Hi Erica great blog. I am with you that girls are not being taught what they need for the 21ST century in many of the schools, but they are gaining freedom. I hate it but it takes so long for change to take place Culture and attitudes have to change to enable women to move forward though it seems at a ssnails pace we are making progress.
