Churches tackle AIDS for Lazarus Sunday- Blog #11
On Sunday April 10, 2011, Churches all over the world will be screening a documentary called the Lazarus story. This story is supported by the campaign group ONE for the movement Lazarus Sunday. In Africa, AIDS patients gained weight, healthy and were more confident in themselves. These pills cost 40 cents a day and was the beginning of the amazing transformation for the fight against AIDS. In 2002 only 50,000 Africans were on this medication, but today over 4 million has access to it. There will be 1,500 churches who will be participating in the Lazarus Sunday movement. Back in the 1900s, church really didn't like to be in politics so they struggled with the issue. They came to realize that its aout loving thy neighbor, so there will be scriptures to follow along with the fight against AIDS movement.
This issue is definitely global because the disease affects people all over the world. The fact that doctors and reseachers were able to find a minimal cure to the negative symptoms of AIDS is only the beginning to the cure for the disease. I'm glad that churches are taking part in this movement because every fight needs to have a steady foundation. With the churches in America becoming aware, it will soon spread to people all over the nation. I'm sure this pill will help not only those in Africa but will be in access to those affected all over the world.
