Kenyan and English police officials are actively searching for a missing English tourist, visiting the country. They are focusing their search on the borders of Kenya and Somalia via contacts across the border. An English couple was attacked earlier in the week at a lodge not too far from this kidnapping; where the husband was shot dead and the wife abducted.
Tourism is a big factor in the economy of Kenya. Kenyan officials worry that these cases will affect their touring industry. So far, two suspects have been interrogated and officials believe this may have been an inside job.
This type of scenario is scary because I could not imagine being abucted in a nother country without knowing how or where to go for help. This should raise awareness of research and precautions to take with vacation sites, or any destination. Every country is different but this goes to show, someplace as beautiful as Kenya can have some of the ugliest crimes.
