Recently protests have sprouted up across America to demonstrate against corporations. The protesters are mad at how big business is making money at the expense of their workers and their consumers. These protests are in cities of all sizes, but most notably being the New York protests. These movements are being called occupations, with the NY one being called "occupy wall street", the protestors claim to be peaceful. But recently there have been small clashes between protestors and the police who were called in to maintain order on the busy streets. This has led to the arrests of protestors which has only heightened tensions within the cities. These arrests are happening more frequently as more and more violations are being committed by protestors. The violations other than the clashes with the police are pretty minor, such as not vacating certain areas, and blocking traffic.

These protests demonstrate a growing social problem in many different parts of the world; it shows how ordinary citizens might fall into small crimes as a result of mass protests. It doesn’t mean that these protests are wrong, just that a mob mentality can sometimes cause problems, such as violence with the police. These protests are also in response to what some are identifying as "corporate crimes" that perpetuate poverty. These types of protests have also been seen in the middle-east in response to regime and other political factors. It shows how as species we all suffer the same injustices and how we react to them. It also shows how peaceful protests can turn into full blown revolution, which luckily doesn’t seem possible in the US right now.
