Three more women in the city of Guadalajara have been detained by Mexican investigators in regards to their connection with a child trafficking plan geared toward supplying babies to Irish couples. Authorities have also taken a tenth child into custody. The three women are said to have been detained in Tohala, a ranch where they took care of the 9-month old baby boy that was earlier taken. The women told authorities they were hired as nannies to care for the children until they were adopted. Police are conducting ranch invasions to find evidence. Just last week, 4 women and 9 children, ages 2 months to 2 years old, were detained and seized. The investigation began with the arrest of a woman accused of attempting to see one of her children and “renting” the other one. 3 other women were said to have been involved. Investigation to whether or not the Mexican women and Irish couples were being tricked or not are in process. Police are also looking for lawyers said to have been involved with the alleged adoption process.
I believe it is a horrible thing that is happening. Not only are the children being stripped of their rights as a human being, but it is also happening at a time in their development when they are learning whom to trust and developing their attachments. This could possibly scar the children for life all due to someone’s greed ways. This being said only if the women really are nannies serving for adoption agencies. Because a lot of investigations are still taking, it is hard to be 100% sure of what is going on. I hope the selling and renting of children prove to be false but it’s hard to tell. My main concern is still the children, the way all of this must affect them, and how they must feel. To bounce around from Mexican women, to Irish couples, to police offers, not knowing what is going on must be terrifying.
