Delilah J Kelly: Blog #1 Global Environmental Destruction Will Lead to the Deaths of Millions

The destruction of our environment is definitely not something that has occurred over night, it has accrued over the course of time ranging from periods of Industrialization to agriculture pesticide usage. These two periods alone have brought about many pertinent issues threatening and affecting the health of humans who are overly exposed to dangerous gases and rays among our everyday lives. In the article, Global Environmental Destruction Will Lead to the Deaths of Millions, the author discusses her concern with the lack of environmental consciousness. Through her scope we are able to examine the simple ways that we neglect the mission of "Going Green" to better our environment. For example, one of her main points was concerning the usage of solar panels to conserve energy. Solar panels are simple additions to our homes or offices that can really provide immense cut back on energy usage. While some of the richest countries refuse to practice this type of prevention across the globe some of the more poor countries have shown to be more environmentally conscious, which is utterly disturbing. She also discusses the lack of implementation of environmental safety procedures, which can be ironically located within some of the largest cities. This is a great issue being that larger cities should be at the forefront of implementing procedures to prevent the destruction of our environment.

On the flip side, despite the title of the article there were no points made on the ways in which environmental destruction can be detrimental to an individual's health. For me this would have been a crucial part of the article. I do not feel this article will benefit or influence a person who opposes preventative procedures, to take heed to lingering health issues that can stem from environmental effects. Another point in the article that would be an immediate turn off for me if I were opposing the "Go Green" phenomenon, would definitely surround the topics of religion. Just as people do not support environmental issue, many other also do not support religious biased efforts. This in turn could cause many inquirers to stray away from becoming more educated on ways they can make a difference and the power they posses to influence others to make a change within our world.
