Public health experts have warned
the public that the London 2012 Olympics have the possibility to start a
disease epidemic. The large crowds and gatherings have been described by health
experts as a hotbed of disease. The Guardian NEWS is reporting that the Health
officials are in the process of starting a public health campaign that will
coincide with the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics in the summer.CBC NEWS
reports that new technologies are being employed to help experts understand how
large crowd of people interact. CBC NEWS also reports that health officials are
providing proven medical countermeasures such as clinical services. The purpose
of the campaign is to prevent the spread of a disease from one to another for
the sporting event from all over the world. The NHS organizations are working
hard to give high quality health services to the local people and visitors.
There is a lot of testing and exercising plan in place to make sure that
all systems are ready for the Games.
I am impressed with the idea that
they are providing health care in the UK to prevent the spread of disease since travelers can introduce the infectious
diseases to a host nation or to their home country when they return.
The question is why the best health care is not provided in other countries during
the Olympics. It should be provided equally to developed
and developing nations on public health grounds. Providing health care equally
would prevent public health concerns such as this.
