In a recent article listed on BBC, the social networking giant known as Twitter has released a gigantic statement regarding the usage of their service through smartphones. Twitter has admitted that the Twitter application on your phones takes all of your contact information from your address books and uploads them to the Twitter servers. Apple has been targeted by various politicians in concerns on why exactly do they allow these types of apps to be purchased over the App Store, as these types of apps clearly break the app developer guidelines. Apple has yet to reply to the congressmen.
The tone of the article was neutral. The content was purely factual, without the author taking any personal bias against either Apple nor Twitter. It was clearly shown that the writer wanted to just provide the information to the reader without taking a stand in regards to the argument
The social problem within this content is the issue of privacy concerns. As in many internet applications and programs, the unauthorized access of personal data has become a bigger problem by the days. Even though there are written laws and rules to protect the privacy of an individual, this is still a frequent problem.
