Apple in Violation blog 10

According to this article, the Fair Labor Association (FLA)  says that it recently conducted on of the most detailed surveys of Apple manufacturer Hon Hai Precision Industry better known as Foxconn.  While doing the survey they noticed a large number of health and safety violations. More than 50 violations were announced, like blocked fire exits and missing permits. But one of the big ones that got noticed were that overtime that was being given out to the employees. For three years in a row Foxcomm have past the legal chinese limits of 49 hours per week and  36 hours overtime per month; even passing the FLA's more lenient standard of 60 hours per week. FLA also noticed that they were not paying the employees the amount that was due to them; the paid in 30 minute increments and if a worker worked 29 minutes then they wouldn't be paid for that time.

The social issue I seen in this article is the fact that clearly people are being mistreated, overworked and underpaid. And the bad thing about it is that its coming from APPLE! One of the worlds greatest retailers in technology today; Its clear technology makes life easier, but is it that demanding where it should come at the price of people being exploited over? I-pods, Iphones, I-pads, and MacBooks are cool, but nobody should be taken advantage of for those to be produced in mass quantities.
