A FBI director by the name of Robert Mueller warned internet security specialists of a chance of upcoming cyber attacks. He said it has become a national security concern. Police, intelligence agencies and private companies must join forces in order to try to stop these crimes before they happen. Mueller said that because technology increases and changes so rapidly it is hard for the police force and other agencies to keep up on technology. Mueller along with everyone else are expecting the number one threat against the country with these cyber crimes. Mueller is trying to get everyone to come together to fight against cyber crimes just as the hackers come together to commit the criminal acts. Alliances need to be formed in the anti-hacking agencies in order to outsmart the criminals. A major concern is that terrorists groups such as Al-Qaeda and Al-Shabaab are extremely computer savvy so they can attack countries around the world at ease. Mueller thinks that the FBI and all agencies should stop being silent about the issue and share the information with government officials before it is too late.
I actually agree with this article. Mueller had a lot of good points. International groups like Al-Qaeda have been more technology savvy and it seems like the Unites States along with other countries underestimate them. National security needs to pay closer attention to this issue because everyone is at risk. Most people use the internet to handle a lot of business whether to pay bills or do more important things. If a cyber attack occurs it could be detrimental. I discussed this topic in one of my past blogs a few weeks ago, but it seems more action has been taken on this issue. This is a step in the right direction.
