Blog 11: Anonymous goes global, again

Well known superhacker group "Anonymous" has allegedly went outside of the United States and extended it's supremacy in the technological world, again. This time the targets were numerous of Chinese operated websites. The total is said to reach over five hundred websites that were affected through the period. The sites that were attacked included government sites, federal trade agencies, and trade groups.

Each of the hacked sites displayed the same message after the intrusions. The message was intended to be a form of protest to the Chinese government for the strict control over their citizens. They urged others to join Anonymous and stage their very own protests as a form of rebellion of the Chinese government. Protests are a social way of expressing dislike or discomfort for a variety of subjects that may arise in society. The issue at hand here is that although it is a form of expression, the way of protesting may be unethical to some.

It seems that this time, Anonymous' motive was for a good cause. The main idea of the hacks were to protest against the Chinese government for having too much control of their citizens. This is not to be overlooked by the main issue at hand which is the unauthorized intrusion of government data. Anonymous' reasoning could be socially correct for some citizens, but to other members of society, Anonymous still remains a threat and a feared group of collective individuals who perform socially incorrect activities.
