In this NYTimes article it is said that one of googles most audacious projects ever to come out was to photograph and mad the inhabited world one block at a time. That was quickly put to an halt when the Federal communications commission (FCC) censured Google for collecting data from potentially millions of unknowing households. As described in the investigation everytime the car took pictures it picked up tons of encrypted data sent from computers and other items. It basically picked up what people were doing at the moment the cars rolled by; whether you were emailing someone, texting, or balancing a checkbook. Google dosent know what to do with all the information they collected it may be took to court for privacy violation.
After reading this article only makes me think that technology is way to advance nowadays. Google is a great company and I'm gonna use them faithfully, though dont think they were going to use the information in a bad way they did violate a lot of peoples privacy rights and should be given a punishment for that. Is a social problem for everyone? Of course it is, if google has technology to take snap shots of someones day from a camera outside on a car. What privacy does society or better yet the world really have?
