Blog 1: Technology in India

In India there has been a huge concern about the safety of women. Recently back in mid-December a twenty three year old woman in New Delhi was gang raped and then died. This prompted many people, companies, and groups to want to do something. The use of technology seems to be the solution for helping to keep women safe. The idea of having a mobile application is the idea that Naccom has come up with. Naccom is going to have a contest in hope that a software developer, corporate, or student can help them with this issue. They want the program to have a one touch function that sends a distress signal and were they are located. The India’s Mahindra group in early January made a phone security software application that is free to all after hearing about the rape. The application is called Fightback it has a panic button that sends locations to the previous selected contact.
This is not the first time that this has happen in India and there should be ways to prevent this from happening again. The fact that so many women are getting rapped has become a concern.  The way that they went about solving this problem is by making technology work for them. The advancement with applications on smart phones is convenient because most people have a phone on them and this application can make them feel somewhat safer.  If this technological idea is successful it can be used in other countries to prevent rape. This application can then maybe help other individuals beside women such as child safety too. In the end this application can make more people safer.
