Nicholas Gardiner, a coroner in England critized the police for taking so long to get to the scene of a crime where three woman were gunned down. Two laid dying while waiting for the Thames Valley police officers in Oxfordshire to arrive nearly an hour after the call for help had been made. The three women were gun downed by one of the victim’s estranged husband, the only victim that walked away calls for the police officers to be held responsible in their deaths. The coroner, gave his verdict that both women were unlawful killings.
This fits in with the overall theme of police all around the world not doing their jobs to the best of their abilities. In our text books, on page 143 one possible solution to help lower crime globally is to create police forces that must be strict but effective and efficient with high professional standards. The police officers that were late to the scene of the crime, do not poses those attributes. The coroner agreed that if the police would have been on time, those women would not have died. The book goes onto say on page 144, that police effects must build a sense of trust and security in order to be effective, which is clearly what not only England is lacking, but in parts all over the world.
