3 women a day killed by a partner in South Africa

Reeva Steenkamp, a model and law graduate was shot and killed by Oscar Pistorius, her intimate partner on Valentine's Day. She is not the only one who was killed that day, two others were as well. These numbers were configured during a study on 'violence against women' that's damns South Africa as having 'the highest rate ever reported in research anywhere in the world'. Statistics show that someone gets raped every four minutes, and a woman is killed every eight hours by an intimate partner in South Africa.
Her killing came the day before she planned to support 'Black Friday' in protest against the country's unbelievable number of rapes, more recently the 17 year old girl who got attention for her brutal rape last month. The media has been investigating some traditional chauvinistic attitudes such as gun control laws, and weaknesses in the police and court systems that allow many of these criminals to walk away free. Which in return deters women from reporting. Just this past week the police stated that they do not have enough rape kits needed to collect evidence.
Woman have no area for safety. One in four men are rapists, and the police themselves have been arrested for crimes against it. Just since November at least half a dozen police officers have been arrested for alleged rape, including one accused of raping a 14 year old boy and an officer accused of raping a woman who came to the police station to report domestic violence. Their own president has been acquitted on charges of rape, but yet this month he is launching a national 'Stop Rape' campaign to 'rid our country of this scourge, to cure our nation of this sickness'. South Africa has strong laws protecting women and children, but they are not being implemented on. It's obvious the system is corrupt. We keep finding these new statistics regarding the crimes faced in South Africa. My question is how and when will these crimes be stopped for good? It's just nonsense, no woman should have to live in fear every day wondering if they will be raped or murdered.
