In China they have created a way to stop the world’s fastest train that is
traveling the speed of 500 kmph. China name the system the Eddy-current
breaking which uses high end technology for the rails to stop the trains.
Eddy-current braking can only stop trains that are going more than 200 kmph or
above. There has been one issue that has caused a major accident with these
rail. A bullet train crashed into a stationary train. This accident caused
forty death and one hundred people injured. These fast trains in China are used
to connect Beijing and Tianjin. These trains make the commute much faster than
driving. China has come up with a plan to have 18,000 km of high speed lines by
2015. Also these trains do not let off any emission.
I think that having these fast trains are great for
traveling and commuting, but because you are not wasting a lot of time driving
or waiting. At the speed of these trains there needs to be a way to stop these
trains it there is an emergency. I hope that this technology that is used in
China can be used in the United States. In the United States there has been a
lot of people that have been jumping in front of trains, and having this
breaking system could help to eliminate this problem. This accomplishment in
China is great because it can stop trains from having massive accidents.
