Israel’s health ministry decided to recognized gay couples as legitimate
parents. Previously, same-sex couples had to undergo a complex process to adopt
their child, even if the child was from surrogacy. After many cases of the
ministry refusing to recognize both same-sex parents of a surrogate child, and
forcing the non-biological parent to go through the process of adoption, as
well as having the biological parent to undergo genetic testing to prove
biological parenthood, Israel’s new minister of health, Yael German, is
attempting to change this procedure. The
recommendations are currently being negotiated and revised, but if it passes,
it still won’t apply to same-sex parents with current cases. Surrogacy is also
still not permitted in Israel, which forces those who wish to have it must go
through a lengthy and expensive procedure abroad.
I think it
is excellent that the ministry is taking steps to gain equality for the LGBT
community. Although there is still much more to be done, this step will open
the door for even more progressive action. It is heart breaking to think that same-sex
couples have to go through such stressful processes to have what heterosexual
couples can do without much hardship at all. I hope this new view will help
Israel to push to recognize, and embrace, same-sex couples to an even deeper
level.

You actually make it seem so easy together with your presentation however I to
find this topic to be actually one thing which I think I'd never understand. It seems too complex and very large for me. I am taking a look ahead to your subsequent submit, I'll attempt to get the
hang of it!
