Earlier today in the area of China they plan to ease one-child policy, and abolish labor camps reports says. They have been hinting for months about this but just announced it today. One of the biggest could be the abolishment of the so-called “re-education through labor,” which is a system where tens of thousands are imprisoned in China without trial. Latest available figures from the Ministry of Justice said that 160.000 people were held in 350 re-education through labor centers nationwide in the ending of 2008. With this reform China said it would reduce the number of crimes subjected to death penalty. Known all around for their law for only being able to have one child they plan to slightly relax so that couples are allowed to have two children if one of the parents was an only child.  The one child policy was put into place to slow down they population growth. The only trick with this coming into play is that single parent homes aren’t allowed to have two.

This is a great importance and change in China. For so long they were only able to have one child. For myself having the chance to be an older sister I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have my younger brother. I feel that there can be many setbacks for being an only child. With China having his law in place it almost seems like they were okay with forced abortions. And as a strong believe in free choice I think it is horrible that they would make someone do this. Obviously if they laid there and did it they should be able to have the baby.
