Chinese Chemicals Flow Unchecked

Pharmaceutical ingredients exported from China are often made by chemical companies that are uncertified and are not inspected by Chinese drug regulators. Since these companies do not have to meet any standards, there is little to stop them from exporting unapproved, adulterated or counterfeit ingredients. China's officials have known of this since the mid 1990s, when a chemical company sold a tainted ingredient that killed nearly 100 children in Haiti but have yet to cooperate with Chines regulatory agencies to stop chemical companies from exporting drug products. In 2006, at least 138 Panamanians died or were disabled after another Chinese chemical company sold the same poisonous ingredient, diethylene glycol, which was mixed into cold medicine.
This is a crime of a very serious nature. China has had many problems with chemicals that have caused a lot of uprising here in the states, and yet it seems that nothing is being done about it. Making chemicals that have not been certified or approved to be safe can effect a huge amount of people in a short amount of time. Someone has to be responsible and make sure that products are safe for the general public or the companies that make unsafe products need to be condemned. Chinese drug regulators and law officials have to come together and do something about this or more people could end up very sick or worse.
