Israel Stops Fuel Shipments;Gaza City Goes Dark

Sunday, Israel decided to cut off the shipments of fuel to Gaza City which powers their main electrical plant. Since Israel controls the fuel supply into Gaza, they thought this would be the best way to try to stop the rocket attacks that they had been getting by Gaza militants. Surprisingly, Israel has cut back the amount of fuel flowing into Gaza, but has never completely cut the supply off. The electrical plant in Gaza has little backup fuel, forcing citizens to prepare for at least the next few days in darkness. This power outage has also raised concern with health facilities. Although hospitals have generators, they will still be forced to turn off the generated electricity to certain vital areas of the hospital. The city believes that if the blackout continues, there will be a huge health crisis, due to powerless hospitals and no trash pickup, and lack of water. Shortly after the power went out, the residents put together a candlelight protest in the main street. The Gaza military believes the blackout is a tactic to attract sympathy and concern from other countries, and they have declared that it will not make them discontinue the attacks. Groups that have been against the fuel shortages completely disagree with the tactics used by the Israli government. They believe they shouldnt attack everyone with the blackout, just the ones in charge of the attacks.
