Renee Beaulieu: Academic Alliance Foundation Announces Publishing of Global HIV/AIDS Medicine
According to the Academic Alliance Foundation publishes the first medical textbook anticipated to have a comprehensive approach to the management of HIV/AIDS as a global problem. This book is designated to provide eminent information concerning prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of HIV/AIDS in areas with limiting resources. Dr. Warner Greene, President of the Academic Alliance Foundation, is trying to allow others to have the medical understanding on how to assist in becoming a contribution to the battle of AIDS. This innovative book includes: “current guidance and realities of HIV/AIDS management by geographical region; the ability to diagnose AIDS manifestations by comparing them to full-color clinical images; and tables that allow a practitioner to quickly gather, compare and review essential data”. This book also provides a better understanding of how to overcome the basic struggles a physician might encompass in their daily practice in helping the patients. This book provides the work from some of the most influential elites who are well-known in the AIDS movement. They include: Warner C. Greene, M.D., PhD; Dr. Greene is also a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Academic Alliance Foundation and was recently appointed President. Paul A. Volberding, M.D.; Merle A. Sande, M.D. Joep Lange, M.D. They are known widely and considered some of the world's leading AIDS experts. The Academic Alliance Foundation (AAF) is a U.S. not-for-profit corporation whose mission is to “overcome the burden of infectious diseases in sub-Saharan Africa by building healthcare capacity and strengthening academic medical institutions.” I believe this is a very ground-breaking resource that will allow those with AIDS to have a better chance of preventing and treating many cases. This is only one other beginning to globally prevent and conquer infectious disease around the world.

Every time I hear about medical research pertaining to HIV/Aids, my inner pessimist comes out and I question whether there is genuine concern for finding a "cure". It is no secret that the money is not in curing the disease. It lies in the prevention of symptoms. It is wonderful that groundbreaking literature is coming available about the disease, but I still feel that more could be done in the realm of research and development of a cure.
I agree with your feelings towards the HIV/AIDS research as well. I think most western medicine practice is geared, more or less, towards covering up symptoms from illnesses we may receive so we can still function rather then going for the root cause to an illness. But then you also have problems with viruses such as HIV/AIDS evolving as well. I read an article for one of my Biology classes that explains how it is becoming increasingly difficult to treat viruses like AIDS.
I agree with both of the two comments because if they really wanted to find a cure of AIDS in Africa then it would have to start with providing healthier conditions for them. Providing literature about this condition does not help the fact of how these individuals are continuing contact with this diease in there everyday life. Help their living conditions and this may help some prevention of this disease.
