Pakistan and U.S. Relations on a Down Spiral, Jared Hill, 10/31/08, 3:45 p.m.

Pakistan was bombarded by two missile attacks on Friday. The first missile came from two drones of the United States military. The missile attacked a region of Pakistan known as North Waziristan. Although the overall death tally was not extremely high, an alleged 21 civilians were killed in the attack near the Afghanistan border. Unidentified deaths are also still in question because of the missile crashing into a civilian house and burned. A member of al queda may have been killed according to the Associated Press. They claim that member Abu Kasha was among the dead from this attack. Kasha lived in the area and was among those that helped organize attacks within Afghanistan. Though this may have been a proven victory among the United States, it was not without the lives of a majority of innocent people that this event took place. Two other missiles continued to hit a house in South Waziristan later that day. Only seven people died in this attack, but five were alleged Arab fighters. This conflict has not helped relations between Pakistan and the United States. This year has proved to be troublesome for the two countries in efforts to cooperate with one another. The leader of Pakistan has already stated his disapproval of U.S. military efforts in their homeland, due to the excessive amounts of devestation caused without much success. This event marks the ninth missle strike in only the month of October. The country’s parliament executed documentation that resents the use of any foreign country attacking on their home soil.
