US led forces are investigating the deaths of seven civilians in an air-strike in the Badghis province of Afghanistan Wednesday evening. The raid was targeted against Taliban insurgents, at least 13 of which were also killed in the fighting.
This comes on top of another US air strike that killed 40 civilians who were attending a wedding.
I think that this is just another example of how complicated the situation in Afghanistan is. The US has committed itself to see this through, but at the same time, innocent people are being killed, as well as otherwise affected, by the near constant fighting.
Regardless of when the fighting will cease, I think something more should be done to help protect civilians from becoming collateral damage.

This is especially true, because civilian casualties in war are almost unstoppable. Yes, I completely believe that all avoidance of this kind of thing should be taken, but in all reality, it's almost impossible to avoid every single situation where this may occur. Finally, I believe that our Army follows each procedure and mission with all policies considered, it's just the fact that it's inevitable, and will probably happen.
