Iraqi-Turkish oil pipeline blasts due to pressure

On Wednesday part of the Iraqi-Turkish oil pipeline burst. This halted the oil flow and caused a major oil spill. After further examinations on the pipeline they have confirmed that the pipeline was broken from the inside because of the pressure. The spills covered an area of 2 square km and now clean up workers have started the clean up process. The oil pipeline connects a northern Iraq city with to the Turkish Mediterranean port which carries crude oil to Turkey. As of now it’s not clear when the conduit will reopen, but they are hoping that it will reopen again very soon.
I think its quite shocking that the pipeline busted and even more shocking that the same thing happened to another pipeline in Turkey not only three months ago. I think the workers and both countries need to figure out a plan to make sure that this doesn’t happen to another pipeline. I also think its weird that officials haven’t commented on this horrible thing so I think there is something behind the entire deal, maybe officials are trying to hide something from everyone, I’m not really sure. Since they are saying that the blast was due to a change in pressure, maybe they should be more cautious when changing pressures or look into other methods when changing pressures.

Oil pipeline maintenance is a must as seen in the Alaskan pipeline which takes millions of dollars to keep maintained every year. Tighter inspections should be kept on pipelines in the middle-east because it effects everyone's lives worldwide.
