One of the murderers involved in the death of three American soldiers, has finally been tried and sentenced to death. The murder of the three men took place in 2006 at an isolated checkpoint in Baghdad, Iraq, when one of the men was found dead at checkpoint. The checkpoint was located near the Euphrates River; the area is also known to be the triangle of death. The other two soldiers were kidnapped for three days, and then found in a horrific scene of mutilation. Both of the soldiers were found tied together and booby trapped with road side bombs. The suspects of the killings are thought to be all al-Qaeda militants; in fact one man has been sentence to death after trial. Ibrahim al-Qaraghuli was the man sentence to death after evidence proved his involvement with the murders of the American soldiers. Reports have been made that he stood motionless as the sentencing was read aloud of his approaching death. I could imagine the slight relief of the families of the men who were murdered, after the outcome of one man found guilty. I also think about the families who actually have a family member in Iraq and their thoughts about whether or not if they will see them again. I have not been in their shoes but I could only imagine if I had a son or a daughter fighting in a war that seems to be endless. My prayers are with the troops and I also hope an abundance of trials would be started to imprison many extreme insurgencies.
