Over the summer, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton visited India in an effort to push for mandatory restrictions on greenhouse gas emissions. She accepted blame on behalf of the United States for global warming and mentioned that she did not want India to go down the same path. India was strongly against the idea, arguing that the country is among those with the least emissions per capita. However, India is looking for alternative ways to assist the global push for emission reduction. Clinton also noted that there is an important link between population control and global warming.
I think that it is good that the US is taking initiative on curbing global warming but I certainly do not blame India for rejecting the methods Clinton proposed. The United States has a lot more to do to protect the global environment before it can start pushing other countries along. Also, it is bogus to blame overpopulation for global warming. Sure, more people means more energy used but using global warming as an excuse to push a population control agenda is wrong.

I am glad that the United States is accepting the blame especially Clinton. This is a big step towards responsibility
