Summary
According to the B.C. Center for Disease Control, three more people have died in British Columbia from illness associated with swine flu. There were two deaths in the Fraser Health Region and one from the Vancouver Coastal Health Region. There is a startling increase in the number of hospitalizations due to the virus in the past seven days. Since the outbreak began back in April, sixteen people including one child from Yukon have died in British Columbia. In order to treat the people that have H1N1, hospitals are acquiring for extra equipment. They are also shutting down non-essential services to hand the rising number of flu cases requiring hospitalization and intensive care. Hospitals are shutting down some ambulatory clinics, reducing day surgeries, and postponing elective procedures due to the number of increasing people being hospitalized with swine flu. School has also had to be closed due to having so many absentees for H1N1. It is stated that by next time this week the hospitals will have given out almost 800,000 doses of the H1N1 vaccine through 200 clinics.

Reaction
After reading this article, I am glad to see that people in British Columbia are taking extra steps in order to treat the increase number of infected people. It scares me that so many people are being affected by swine flu everywhere in the world. I am also glad that the hospitals have set up a flu assessment center which is separate from the emergency room for the children who have flu-like symptoms. Hopefully by doing this it will decrease the rates of the spreading of wine flu. I hope that we can eliminate the swine flu virus so that we will be able to go on with our day to day living and not have to worry about catching the disease.
