Toll rises in Israel siege on Gaza

The death toll in Gaza continues to grow as Israeli still holds 1.3 million palestinians within it. The Palestinian health ministry issued this statement after a 51 year man suffering from cancer died after being denied permission to go abroad for medical treatment. There is also a ban on medicine and medical equipment being allowed into Gaza. The health ministry pleaded for Israel to end it “brutal, ugly practices committed day and night in front of the entire international community. The statement also came as a humanitarian convoy, Miles for Smiles, remained held up in Egypt. The convoy carries humanitarian aid for those in Gaza, but is not being allowed in.

This is not the first time I have selected an article on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This to me is an example of one of the longest ethnic conflicts that has ever taken place. The issue is always the same: the Palestinians feel the land is theirs, and they are tired of being oppressed by the Israeli government, and the Israeli government keeps them oppressed because of the violence they inflict on Israeli civilians. The palestinians combat are acts of terror, which have a momentary effect, but in the long run only keeps them more and more oppressed. Israel will not have peace until they can reach an agreement, which may not ever happen since both sides are guided by such deep religious roots.

As long as this conflict has been going on, you could compare it to the Cold War, except with an excessive amount of bloodshed. Great post!
