Officials in Turkey have decided to end disagreements between the Kurds and bring peace to Turkey. After 25 years of a Kurdish insurgency which has been based on political rights, officials have proposed a plan to keep the peace between the two ethnic groups. Opposition of the plan has stated that officials in Turkey are giving in to the Kurd’s which have been accused of terrorism. Turkey has not officially announced the components of what exactly their peace plan will entail, but they have announced a date when they will tell these details. The conflict between the Kurdish and Turks started between Kurdish living in Turkey that were part of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PPK) which were later outlawed and forced to relinquish their weapons. Although officials have acknowledged the fact that their decision may lose favor in politics, they have decided to continue with the proposed plan.

Although the peace plan proposed by Turkey may bring more conflict at first, I think it’s always a good idea to try and resolve conflict. As stated in more of my current events about ethnic conflict I always hope there is a resolution to conflict between the ethnic groups that are feuding, and finally I have an article to summarize that does just that. I am pleased that a country is willing to set aside differences and try to bring peace to their own country. Despite the opposition Turk officials are facing, I hope they continue with their plan to bring peace.
