6 Novemeber 2009

.:Summary:.

The US government is extending travel alerts in Germany due to the fact that al Qaeda has released multiple video threats to the Germans in the past few months. The United States has extended its travel alert until February 10, 2010. The German public has been warned to take extra precaution at hotels and restaurants as well as airports and other high population areas. There has been a dramatic increase in threats towards Germany from al Qaeda and other Islamic groups since the beginning of 2009. Investigations are in full gear and all possible precautions are being taken.

.:Reaction:.

This really hits home for be because half of my family is in Germany. My mother was born and raised there along with all of her siblings, so I have roots in Germany and lots of family. The fact that they are at high risk scares me greatly. I realize that these threats are meant to scare the free world and may not even come true and that since the UN is there to help that the chances of an attack actually becoming successful are severely decreased. I just don’t understand these groups and how they work and why they think that by killing so many that they are doing good for the world.
