American women 'growing richer'

According to the recent US census, women are definitely making progress. There are three women for every two men who are in undergraduate or postgraduate schools. Most people in law school are now women, and nearly half of medical students are women. Women are becoming more educated. Now, 1 in 18 women are making yearly wages over 100,000 dollars each year, which is a rise of 14 percent since the last census. While men making over 100,000 dollars in yearly wages only rose 2 percent since the last census. Although women are starting to take their place beside men, there are still gender wage gaps. The “glass ceiling’ is still very prevalent. The area with the highest wages for women was Washington, D.C. According to this article, ‘The capital's educated labour force is dominated by lawyers, civil servants and academics, all fields with a strong female presence.”
Women are obviously making progression, not only in the United States, but all around the world. However, many individuals still look at men and women differently. They believe that women cannot do a man’s work or that they are less valuable than men. Less wages is what keeps more women in poverty than men and less educated than men. This also makes single moms more likely to live in poverty than men. Until people change their mindset, women will continue to make lower wages and have less education. Even if women can’t change people’s mindset, they are still taking their place in usually male dominated fields, like medicine, law, etc.
