Lanxess, a German chemical company, is on board to take advantage of urbanization in China. "China offers a great opportunity because of the mega trend in urbanization and the pursuit of a high-quality life in the country", says the company's CEO, Martin Kreamer. Urbanization in China is growing at such a speed, the country's urban population is expected to reach 926 million in the year 2025. That number was only 572 million in 2005.
Lanxess acquired a manufacturing sits in Jinshan in 2008, and has invested over $10 million on the project. It already has 13 business units in China, such as synthetic rubber and high-tech plastics which are essential for tire and auto parts.
I think this is a great business move for Lanxess as a company and a great economic opportunity for China. This will bring a large number of jobs to the urban areas and hopefully will hopefully bring the country closer to catching up with its growing urban population. People move from rural areas for purposes like this, to find a job that will last long and that will pay. Lanxess is a very successful company across the globe, not just in China, so they know how to keep business booming.
