This article is about a missing ten year old girl. Searchers have looked for Zahra Baker's remains at the property of a tree service company where her father, Adam Baker, is employed. The girl's stepmother, Elisa, was charged with felony of obstruction of justice when she admitted to writing a note to throw off investigators. If convicted, she could spend up to thirty months in prison. After Elisa confessed, the search turned from a missing person case to a homicide. Police dogs detected the scent of human remains on two of the Baker's vehicles and also at the Real Tree Service where Adam worked. No on knows for sure when Zahra went "missing". Elisa reported her missing Saturday after a fire struck up at the families home. However, authorities aren't confident in that. Adam and a friend of the family both say that Elisa may have had something to do with the disappearance. Relatives and neighbors all agree that Elisa has a short temper, is willing to use a gun or her fists to settle an argument, and that she usually takes her anger out on her stepdaughter. It was even reported that Elisa had tried to hide that she has beaten Zahra often from her husband. This is a heartbreaking story. No child should go through this. Authorites should continue to look until they have the needed evidence. Whoever is responsible should have justice upon them. As far as analyzing the story, it sounds that Elisa has a huge part of the case. Between her beating the child and now lying about the note, it sounds too suspicious. Looking at this article, you can see it as a sociological problem. Children, teenagers, and even adults go missing everyday. Whether they are kidnapped or killed, it is a growing problem. Also another sociological problem is the murders of children by family members that is on the rise. As far as critiquing the article, I find nothing that could be changed. It was very informative in a way that I know the entire story, from how she went missing to the update on the search.

I agree with you that the stepmother, Elisa, does sound very suspicious in this case. Especially after she has been caught beating Zahra, and also people saying that she is short tempered. Sounds to me like the notes she was making up was just a distraction to throw off the people in search of Zahra, so they wouldn't start accusing her of Zahras disappearance. Thats a really tough case. It looks like more investigation needs to be done on Elisa to get to the bottom of all this.
What I don't get is how a child could be missing so long and somebody, anybody, get suspicious. It is disturbing that people are blind and apathetic.
