Blog #2: This is Abuse, and how to stop it

A lot of women especially teenagers are experiencing violence at the hands of a significant other. Laura states in the article how many teenagers have been receiving various forms of abuse online. Also listed in the article was information about the percentage of teenagers who had experience some type of unwanted touching while at school. The percentage was 29%, this is a high amount for 16-18 years old and especially while at school, this data is crazy to see. The website, This is Abuse is determined to use online media in a better way by providing information and advice for those people who are dealing with abuse.

The information presented above can be seen as a social problem because it happens to many teenagers and adults everywhere. This information about violence on women can happen to anyone everywhere. It may be at the hands of a close friend, boyfriend or husband. Many forms of abuse happen to women in other countries especially in war torn countries, do not get reported and that has to stop. If we can get information to people who are going through abuse in form, that may help lower the amount of women who have taken a stand against abusive behavior done to them and those like them. If teenagers in other countries are able to reach someone and are able to tell about their abuse then it gets the goal of helping women stop the abuse further out. Women everywhere have to be able to feel that they can share this problem with others and feel okay with the decision they have made. With the support provided in some countries if some type of support or resource can become available to everyone in all countries. More people would be able to tell their stories in hopes of stopping the abuse cycle; they may be used to seeing around them. The End Violence against Women Coalition’s goal, no matter where the women may be at in the world.
