Blog Post #3: Wal-Mart Announce Women-Friendly Plans

Wal-Mart is a company that is known to provide jobs for millions of people around the world. They were recently sued for sex-discrimination against women. This case does not influence the recent announcement that Wal-Mart has made. Wal-Mart is starting to see how important women are to their business. They have reached this information through seeing the amount of female workers and female customers that are seen in this company. They plan on increasing the amount of products they get from women-owned businesses to increase the overall development of women. Also, Wal-Mart plans to donate money and support women’s growth in the economic sector. They would like to increase the amount of women represented in the business world and in their companies to cut down the differences seen between women and men.
I believe that this article is a social problem because women everywhere may experience discrepancies in their place of work, no matter the job field. With that being said, these same issues occurring involving Wal-Mart are happening somewhere else around the world with another company. Lack of services provide to women around the world can be seen countless times and that is a sad thing to say, that this issue happens frequently. It affects people everywhere which I would like to provide an example for which was included in the article; it gave an example of a woman working in Bangladesh who may not have great health education. Wal-Mart has this goal to effectively help the workers that work for them by providing them with the tools and education that they need in this world to further their lives. Business’s everywhere should want to improve their worker’s lives by providing them with the services they deserve if they want to see continued success for all parties involved. These plans established by Wal-Mart need to remain present and continue to be followed through for the betterment of all people. It does not just affect one person, there are so many more people connected than you could imagine.
