Blog #9: Alstom Wind Chief Sees Turbine Growth in Brazil and Europe

Alstom wants to develop a style of green technology in Brazil and parts in Europe.  The type of technology the company developing is wind turbines, so that changes kinetic power from the wind into mechanical energy.  Alstom is a French equipment maker and the third largest power company.  The company is planning to make the wind turbines during this year and the next year.  Alstom’s Renewable Unit Chief Jerome Pecresse was in an interview explaining how Alstom will develop the wind turbine in Brazil and Europe.  He stated: “We’ve improved all our financial indicators this fiscal year, seeing strong growth of the Brazilian market this year and seeing the pickup of the offshore wind industry in Europe.”  Alstom is predicting steady markets in Europe and also China in the next year.  Alstom also said in France, they will put together extra factories that will create tower, blades, generators and nacelles in 2020.
In my opinion, it is a good idea for Brazil and Europe.  There are few setbacks that Alstom made will take time to finish building the wind turbine in Brazil and couple counties in Europe.  I read that the Alstom’s wind business has remained a profitable but they suffered from buying fake parts in India and China.  This action can hurt their business in the long run if this continues.  But with the positive mindset, Alstom can make their plans happen.  Places like Brazil need green technology so they can have the same opportunities like other counties in the world.  It will take a long process but they have a good sense to make this project to happen.
