More Students Going Abroad

Today, November 2, 2007, in Beijing there was a meeting of 72 best known boarding schools from the United States, Switzerland, and Canada. This meeting was hosted by an Education Fair that was especially created for Chinese students. Now, Chinese families are willing and able to allow their children study abroad because of China's growing economy and the country's integration into the global market. The Association of Boarding School (TABS) states that about 60 students in middle and primary schools applied to study abroad in 1997. This number has increased to 1,500 annually since 2001. This increase in the number of students applying to study abroad is a reflection of what their parents hope their children will become by studying abroad. This gives students a chance to enroll in universities in Europe and the United States. About 110,000 secondary education schools are the United States. There are 20 million registered students in the United States, and 90,000 are boarding schools. However, many Chinese education experts say that sending students overseas while in middle school may cause problems. At this age they are not able to take care of themselves and may suffer from psychological problems.
I think that this article says a lot about the educational system world wide. Many places are not able to send their students to places that are better off. But there seems to be a huge improvement within this situation for some countries. I think that people can fix this by supporting or hosting students from another country.
