Man fathered four with daughter

From the 1970s until 2007, a man in Australia allegedly raped his daughter and had four children by her. She attempted to come forward in 2005 but dropped the charges because she feared for her safety. Her father (as well as the father/grandfather of her children) at first denied fathering her children but after DNA tests confirmed he had fathered her children, he was arrested and tried in February 2009 after his daughter came forward again in June 2008. Her mother said that she didn’t know who the father of her grandchildren was, even though they all stayed in the same house. “She would say she went out to nightclubs and met a fella.” The first time the daughter came forward, she was encouraged by a neighbor that her mother said, “is a known busybody”.
I was really outraged about this. This is the second time this has happened and the victim just had the courage to say something. I refuse to believe that her mother didn’t know what was going on. I’m home and my mom still knows what’s going on! For this woman to have to bear her father kids and all of them have birth defects, is horrible. What really hurts is to know that this woman was so scared she didn’t report it and the one person who told her to tell what was going on is labeled as a busybody. This story scares me because of the Jaycee kidnapping being solved and the fact that there are stories like this out there. Are these kids that are kidnapped also being psychically abused home and that is why they don’t want to go home? Makes me wonder what’s going on all around the world because women are being abused all around the world and nothing’s being done.

That is crazy. I dont believe for a second that the mother didn't know what was going on in her own home. It just seems to me like she is lying.
This is so crazy and terribly sad. I have not heard a story like this but I'm unfortunately not surprised this has happened. I'm glad that the girl had the courage to speak out because it's not easy.
This is horrible. I remember hearing this story and when I first heard it I was shocked and sicken to know that a child's father would ever think of something like this. I could not imgaine how hard it was for the girl to come forth and speak out about what she has been going through. And for her own mother to not know what was going is very hard to believe.
HOw can a mother let this happen in her home! I am outraged because she should have known. I feel so sad that the daughter had to go through that. I feel as though the mother should have charges against her too because she should have protected her daughter.
