Many gay hate crimes are taking place, in the past week there have been mass rapes in South Africa of suspected lesbians and killings of homosexuals in Iraq. South Africa was the first country to include sexual rights within its country and is still seeing brutality when it comes to sexual orientation. The Iraq killings are based upon religious views and its alliance between the Catholic church and Islam. However, Western countries are seeing a different side, as there are more and more gay and lesbians characters in tv shows, and more openly gay politicians. The Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, declared that the United States was now tracking violence against the gay community and that they were pushing for a Security Council resolution on sexual and gender violence.
I think hate crimes against gays are always going to be there, just like there are still racial hate crimes today, however, it is always going to be sad to see what extent these foreign countries are going to just to keep "gay" from being in their society. On the matter of Hillary Clinton, I think she should work on the United States before adventuring into other nations, seeing as our rights in this country for gays is extremely limited. I'm sure she is doing plenty for the US, it just seems hippocritical to be focusing on other countries when your own country doesn't even have the rights you are fighting for in other countries. The South Africa topic is also a little troubling, seeing as they have sexual rights already and they are facing problems.

Its sad how people are so close-minded that they have to break down someone who has different views than their own. Its ridiculous how many people die because others can't learn to accept them for who they are. They are still human beings too.
