More Power to the Authority

Many times in the classroom the kids rule over the teacher. This is due to poor classroom management. It can be a great challenge to gain respect and control over some students, but it has to be done not only for their benefit, but the other classmates as well. This issue was given a solution in the United Kingdoms by giving power to the principals to judge and discipline their students to help the teachers. Teachers will remain innocent unless proven otherwise, which has me a little on edge. Yes I believe in innocence until proven otherwise but some teachers abuse the authority. Teachers who have taught over the past fifteen years have found that students behavior, attitudes, and values have changed. While talking to a former teacher, she expressed her concern of this subject. She brought forth the point that teachers need protection from those who seek trouble but at the same time, we as educators, need to be fair and honest with our own actions and words. I think back when my parents were growing up and hearing how they got a paddling or hit on the hand with a ruler, they became very disciplined in their studies and I believe that helped them to establish their value in education. If a student knows that their teacher can't lay a finger on them, then they know that they can do anything they want because they have no fear of a discipline and if they are physically handled then they can take them to court. This is not fair to the teachers because they are just trying to teach their required material and then a good teacher will teach good morals and manners along the way, but due to these laws it makes it difficult in my opinion.
So i agree with these new guidelines they will help get the education system back on track and take some unnecessary stress off of teachers.
