I have decided to use this blog to discuss a very controversial issue. To some it can be seen as a global problem because it is taking off rapidly, but to others they do not see it as an issue. In 2005 a website was created by Brandon Wade named Seekingagrangment.com. This allowed very wealthy old men to pay to be on the website to find girls wanting financial help. There was an episode on Dr. Phil Friday that discussed this website for an hour. Some people fault that women were selling themselves, therefore it was prostitution. They had many different types of people like lawyers, sugar babies, or counselors stating their cases. The girls did not feel like it was prostitution one bit. They had relationships with these men. They are friends and the men want to spend their money to support them. Most paid all their bills for them. Some said sexual relations were not even involved.
This just really made me think of sociology all around. People all over the world can be involved on the website. There was way more judgement on the woman's part rather than the man. Society has this harsh judgement for any "unacceptable" thing a girl does. The men are just as in the wrong if you see it as a issue. This also brings up the term of a patriarchal society and how men have so much dominance. Are they prostitutes because they know they want a man with money so they go seeking? If it is only one man are they selling themselves? They are support systems for one another, doesn't that account for something? Just something to think about!

After reading this blog "Sugar Babies," I was not at all astonished. Many girls still do that today in order to get financial assistance. As a matter of fact many girls do and you may not even think they are. Although they may not go on a website and seek for the assistance that way many young girls rely on older men to take care of them and think that this exchange of sexual relations and monetary gain is normal. This is very mind blowing.
