Blog 6 : Women can cut risk of heart disease.

According to the American Heart Association, Heart disease is the leading cause of  women, more than any cancer.  American heart’s month is February  so it is an opportunity  to take control of your heart and confront potential risk factors. Eileen Kelly from Northshore University wanted to raise awareness and encourage women to take steps toward a heart- healthy lifestyle.Dr. Kelly’s research states More than 80% of the risk of the heart attack and stroke  can be reduced in women, who don’t smoke, exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet. Dr Kelly wanted women to carry a food diary so that they could know their patterns and pitfalls and identify areas where they can improve. Changing your eating behavior is a better strategy than considering a temporary diet to lose weight. Exercise is really important too. Women are most likely  than men to experience atypical signs including back pain, jaw pain, GI- like issues including reflux and even earlobe pain. Dr Kelly  urged  women to see a physician if they faced new or different pains above the waists.
It is an excellent opportunity to make women self-aware about heart disease since the idea of eating a healthy diet, weight loss, not smoking and exercise regularly would increase their life expectancy. As  I see Dr. Kelly is really encouraging and understand that how hard it is to break a bad habit but if Women tries to  break  it by taking baby steps then it is possible to cut the risk for heart diseases. Therefore in the fact,Higher Life expectancy means lower death rate, which will solve this problem globally.
