California gets dire warning on global warming

The University of California Berkley recently released a study with actual numbers depicting the disastrous affects of Global warming on California's economy over the next century. Roads and bridges, the water supply, agriculture, public health and even winter skiing all will be affected by global climate change, damage could reach many billions of dollars per year, In real estate alone, up to $2.5 trillion are at risk from rising sea levels, wildfires and other extreme weather events occurring as the world gets warmer. Global climate change has a direct influence on every single sector of California's economy:
-Water: An estimated $5 billion in levees, aqueducts and other water systems are at risk, and costs could reach $600 million a year.
-Energy: $21 billion in transmission lines, power plants and grid components are at risk, with annual damage ranging from $2.7 billion to $6.3 billion. Potential impacts could include less hydropower due to less rainfall; more hot days requiring greater use of air conditioning; and more winter storms causing more power outages.
-Transportation: $500 billion at risk to ports, airports, roads and bridges
.-Tourism and recreation: $98 billion in assets are at risk, with annual damage ranging from $200 million to $7.5 billion. Beaches, golf courses and state and national parks, will be impacted too.
-Real estate and insurance: $2.5 trillion in homes, office buildings, warehouses and other structures are at risk, and water damage could cost $1.4 billion a year, while fire damage could result in $2.5 billion in damages.
-Agriculture, forests and fisheries: $113 billion in crop land and orchards, livestock, forests and squid and salmon fisheries are at risk, with annual damage ranging from $300 million to $4.3 billion.
-Public health: Annual costs due to atmospheric changes range from $3.8 billion to $24 billion a year.

The affects of California are are in large disastrous numbers, the state has taken steeps to counter this problem but none to the extent to0 actually counter the problem properly.

If your state is going to be facing a 2 trillion + dollar problem in the future you'd think that u would be scurrying to make some important steps in the right direction. If I had some power in my state I wouldn't let this pass me by and think that it wont be directly affecting me or if actually isn't true it is just some liberal wish wash. No matter if u believe it is by human cause or natural, it is happening and there are going to be big irreversible effects that are going to be be costly problems.

Although global warming is an increasingly well known issue, I honestly feel it will not be enough to save many places from destruction. Los Angeles is a location that relies on extreme wealth and self interest to survive. They may soon face a sad reality.

Although there are tons of fashionable capitals all around the world, other countries look to California for new trends, for movies, and watch the lives of the rich and famous that live in California. It seems ridiculous and almost embarrassing to think that all the world is looking at this one area and while they see the luxurious lives of super stars, they also see on of the most disgusting examples of global warming on the planet. We can do better than this.
