According to the United Nations Development Program, China has an immense gap between the rich and poor. As a result, consumption and productivity has been discouraged and China’s growth has been stunted.
Like we saw in the power point of our fellow classmate, the rural and urban areas in China have been increasingly isolated due to differences in income, social welfare disparities, education and elderly care. Although cities such as Beijing and Shanghai have reached developmental levels that compare to those of Western Europe, Southwestern provinces in China are comparable to those of South African countries.
Their solution is to equally push basic healthcare, education and welfare to all Chinese citizens. This would ultimately boots China’s economy, especially during a global recession. The government is initiating a 4tn yuan (590 US Dollar) stimulus package, that will include increase spending on public services and infrastructure.
China’s progress over the past 30 years of reform has been called “a miracle in the history of poverty reduction.” According to the UN human development index (which measures health, knowledge and income), China has made dramatic gains for its citizens from 101st to 81st in global ranking between 1990 and 2005.
I am impressed with China’s growth. I hope that they will take their success to a higher level and provide the tools for everyone in china, whether they live in urban or rural areas, to live healthy and flourishing lives.

I think China is showing an impressive success and other nations need to look at the what China is doing. Making sure that everyone in China receives healthcare, education and etc will benefit everyone.
