More violence is being spread throughout India as Hindu’s are stepping up the violence. Now the Hindu militants have started offering incentives or rewards for attacks against Christians.
These offers to the militants including items ranging from money, food, gas and other items, entice these militants to attack Christians. Christians make up only two percent of Indi’s population. These rewards are for destroying homes, churches or other Christian properties. The rewards are based on the attack. “The going price to kill a pastor is $250 US dollars.” This according to Dr. Faiz Rahman who is chairman of Good News India (GNI). He refers to twenty five pastors he has helped but says around 250 church leaders are still in shelters. He is worried about the pastors because of the high reward for killing them. He remains adamant that these pastors need to leave refugee camps in order to be safe.
The Hindu mobs started after a fundamentalist leader was murdered, the Hindus blamed the Christians although Maoist rebels took credit for it. Again so many have been affected leaving their homes with nothing. These attacks have now spread to 14 states since it all started.
Bishops requested to the minister requesting the police remain until the parliamentary and assembly elections in Orissa and asked that churches be rebuilt before Christmas. India is the largest democracy in the world and groups are criticizing the government for allowing the continuation of attacks.
Just when I thought it was bad enough, could not get worse, it has managed to produce even more attacks. Now that incentives, especially money are being offered for attacks I feel the violence will only keep rising adding to more Hindus wanting to help. This is sad in more than one way and should have drastic matters taken on by the government.
