A Message of Warning to the New Commander in Chief

by: Nicole Griffin
November 4th will be written down in the United States history, as the most progressive step that Americans has ever taken. As the President Elect Barack Obama has been the first African-American to attain the highest office in the land. Mr. Obama is seen across the nation as a hope figure for every person who could believe that all things are possible to them that believe, a truth that is known in particular in the Christian faith of God. As the election has brought the masses to hope and live for the unforeseen future, it has also deepened roots of hatred in some. Three days after Barack Obama was declared the President elect, a video was released from the prominent terrorist group in the Middle East, Al-Qaeda. Leader of the front Al-Qaeda group produced a video urging the American military to withdraw from their country or consequences will be the result. Alleged commander of the Islamist State of Iraq, Abu Omar al-Baghdad, stated “The men of Islam and the knights of Jihad have greater aspirations, determination, and great might and hope. So they don’t care to wake up one day under the shadow of the ceiling of the White House, Elysees or the Kremlin. In this nation, there are righteous people whose prayers are always answered.” I declare to you what can be better for you and for us as well and that is to go back to your previous pledge of detachment and withdraw.”
The message sent by Al-Qaeda commander was not only addressing the United States but also nations such as Russia and France. Al-Baghdadi also directed the message against presidential allies from Christian nations to remove their forces from Iraq, Afghanistan, and other Muslim regions. The content of the video relays the clear indication of a Holy War between the Muslim faith and Christian principles. I strongly believe that the video will be investigated as it becomes a message of a direct threat against our nation, and will need to be backed with the continual action that our military has executed through the war against terrorism. I stand in agreement with our military leaders and our troops in their persistence towards finding the leaders of Al-Qaeda to bring justice to many who lost the lives of love ones around the world by the acts of extremist.
