Move Would Restore Funds to International Groups Involved With Abortion; Timing Shows Sensitivity to Foes of Roe v. Wade
President Obama was faced with a challenging second day as President. January 22 is the anniversary of the emotional and controversal trial Roe vs. Wade it which abortion was legalized. On this historic day Obama decided not to issue the order to restore U.S. funding for international planning family groups but plans to do so soon. By doing so the tradition was broken on making descions on abortion- related order on the anniversay of the trial. Both Presidents before him used the day to make changes regarding the policy. The orignal policy was made in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan which stated "U.S. funds for contraception and other family-planning services could not go to organizations that advocate, counsel or offer abortion. Opponents call it the "global gag rule." Mr. Clinton, a Democrat, lifted that restriction when be became president in 1993, and then the Republican Mr. Bush changed it back in 2001." President Obama issued a statement that both " affirmed his support for Roe and his determination to reduce the needs for abortion". He plays to find a common ground about the situation and provide affordable health care. Other politicans called it a "political sawvy move".
President Obama seems to have his work cut out for him. I personally do not believe in abortion but I feel that it is an individual decsion to be made by the family that is experiencing the situation. I feel that it is a sensible as well as politically good move for Obama.

In the post you stated that Obama...
" affirmed his support for Roe and his determination to reduce the needs for abortion"
I find this very ironic because all through his campaign when he was asked about his view on abortion he stated that there was nothing wrong with it unless it had to deal with the mothers health and out of all the abortions that are taking place I am almost certain that there are not very many that are health related.
He also stated that he would never let "his daughters deal with the mistake of a child" which has nothing to do with the health of a mother...
I do not believe in abortion and think it is completely wrong. It really surprises me already the contradictions that are being seen.
