Afghan Police Are Weak In Security Force

I feel that in this article that they were basically trying to bring out the fact that until the Afghan police strengthen their forces then there will never be a resolution to what is going on in Afghanistan. It was brought out that because the Afghan police are so weak minded and seem to be into whatever they have no problem with taking sides with the dangerous and treacherous group called the Taliban. Military analyst Anthony Cordesmann stated that "The leadership within the police is much weaker, much less well trained, and far more corrupt. They often have contacts with "power brokers, criminals, drug lords and the Taliban". The new president has already stated that they need to get stronger in order for the U.S. troops to be able to go home is about 5 years. A big problem that Afghanistan is having is that a lot of their units are on the streets which makes them 3 times as likely to be killled in that those high crime areas. Unfortunately before our troops can leave and come home, Afghanistan needs to be stronger within its self so that it will not all fall apart.
I feel that there should be careful planning and choosing in who the Afghanistan government wants in the combat units. Crime in Afghaistan is not going to stop and especially not the war until they make a stand for what is right and decide that they want a change. Afghanistan is so used to war and destruction that I don't think that they can get out of that mode until the government makes some changes within themselves. With many of the government officials being involved in so many of the things that is tearing Afganistan down there is no way that they could ever make a change. I feel that Afghanistan definitely needs to stand on their own two feet because it seems to me that they are dependent on others to try and fix things within their own society.
